Katie O' Getting Married: Wedding Week Musings….
Hello to all of my amazing and loyal blog readers!  Well, it is officially wedding week over here and Nate and I are BEYOND excited that it has finally arrived! I wanted to share as many real and honest feelings this week as we get closer and closer to the big day.
So, I will start by saying some of the posts you read might not be the most highly edited and perfectly planned…but they will be honest.
It is Monday afternoon around 3:00pm and I just turned my out of office on and I am feeling VERY comfortable and caught up on all my client work so I can confidently “turn off” the Katie “planner” and focus on Katie “the bride to be.” Trust me, the latter does come in waves, but when it does I get really excited!
One of the questions I get asked most frequently as I move forward to becoming a “Mrs,” is “so how are you going to still be Katie O' if you are going to be “Katie Maloney” when you get married?
Omalley Crest
It is weird, I have to admit, when sometimes I enjoy just being “Katie” and not “Katie O'”  It is not that I don't LOVE being a wedding planner and owning my own business, it is more that I enjoy that I can just be the “bride” as Katie.
I have never doubted that no matter what my married name would be, I would take it as my own. I am proud to be marrying Nate and into a family with a name that means unconditional love, faith, support, integrity, and honor.

In order to always be “Katie O,” I have decided that I will move my maiden name to my middle name and officially become…Katie O'Malley Maloney. I am beyond excited to become Katie Maloney on Friday and look forward to so many years of happiness as a “Mr & Mrs!”
Stay tuned for more wedding week musings as we make our way through this VERY exciting week…

March Milestones (and Wedding Madness)!

It's hard to believe that just about a year ago I redesigned and relaunced my website and really dove head first into blogging. Yup, it's the blog's ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY! It's pretty cool to look back on such a momentous year from both a personal and a business perspective.

I kicked off last wedding season and this blog with a post about Katie O' Wedding and Events in Martha Stewart Weddings…I've talked about trends; vendors and venues I love; highlighted past KOWE couples on “Wedding Wednesday;” I've documented my own wedding planning process; and, most importantly, I've connected with you, our clients and friends, and other vendors that support the KOWE team throughout the wedding planning and coordinating process. As always, I'm humbled and thankful for all of the support.

In addition to the blogiversary, I also just hit 1000 followers on Instagram and Katie O' Weddings and Events has over 2000 likes on Facebook! OMG. Again, I'm overwhelmed by those numbers. Thank you.

But as I've been reflecting on the past year of my life–and I think I'm even more introspective as a result of getting married in a week–I'm still working and making things happen for my clients. Just yesterday, I was able to secure a prime Saturday for this October for an incredible couple and they will have an amazing crew of vendors, to boot. I firmly believe that what you put out into this world comes back to you; I know this couple deserves the best and they're getting it. I'm so happy they trusted me to pull it all together for them.

I'm thankful to have a job I love and support from the greater community. Thanks for helping Katie O' Weddings and Events continue to grow and we look forward to everything that the 2014 wedding season will bring (even if it's more rain–we're ready)!

Oh, and a very happy 4 year anniversary to my friends, JP and Kris Ann!

Katie O' Getting Married: It's the Final Countdown!

Here we are…10 days–TEN— away from our wedding day. I can't believe it. I'm an absolute jumble of joy; anticipation; excitement; nerves; nostalgia; and everything in between. But I wanted to share a little bit of what we've been up to in these last few weeks. To put it in the simplest terms–meetings. Lots and lots of meetings! And it's not as if I don't know that this happens before a wedding because I usually attend these meetings, but it feels so different now that these meetings are for me!

First–the rehearsal dinner! You know how much I love Yono's and dp--so, of course, this would be our choice for the rehearsal dinner. When I celebrated my thirtieth birthday, I went to Yono's; when I launched my business, their food was amazing; when Nate planned an intimate dinner for two the evening of our engagement (which turned into a sparkly celebration for 70!) we went to dp.

We're serving only truffle popcorn! Hah–just kidding, even though it is one of my most favorite items, our menu will include all our favorite menu items. Yono, Donna, and Dominick have been awesome (as I knew they would be) and we are so looking forward to sharing this amazing food and some special time with close family and friends before the “Big Day”.

Secondly, we've met with not one, but two of the area's most professional floral designers. On Thai of Surroundings Floral Design will be doing the overall decor for our rehearsal dinner and Kris Ann Elario of Fleurtacious Designs is creating the look for our wedding. We've featured both Surroundings AND Fleurtacious Designs here on the KOWE blog and we're excited to have such talented visionaries working on our wedding!

Attire–both Nate and I have been attending a lot of fittings lately! I'm so incredibly excited about my gownJanet Cooper and the staff from Angela's Bridal have been amazing every step of the way. I get excited every time I turn down State St. in Albany! (Photo of me from last summer)

In addition to his tux from Tuxego, Nate and I headed over to Mark Thomas Men's Apparel recently to outfit him for our rehearsal dinner. Nate's going to look sharp, I tell you!

And, for me, there will be a visit a few days before the wedding to my friends at Island Mist Tanning. I have a pretty fair complexion, but I want a little bit of glow for the wedding. I love Island Mist because it is the areas only organic and alcohol-free airbrush tanning salon!

I have so much more to share, but I want to keep some things a surprise until after the big day. Soon I will be sharing with you all of the elements that have come together to make our wedding celebration so special!
