Designer Showcase: Lea-Ann Belter

So I have a little secret that I'm about to share…I LOVE Lea-Ann Belter gowns! Have you heard of Lea-Ann Belter? She and her designs are AMAZING and are made right here in North America! Lea-Ann is a Toronto, Canada based designer and has been making waves in the bridal industry since she launched her career in 1989. Her design philosophy is simple: elegance, sophistication, and understated details. It's easy to see her design ideology come through when you look at her collection. In a word, they're all stunning.

I think the thing that most surprises me about Lea-Ann Belter gowns is how light they are. I see a lot of wedding gowns (I mean, A LOT) and Lea-Ann Belter gowns always feel light as a feather!

Ashley and Eric were married at their family home in Montecito, California. Ashley wore the Annabelle gown that was custom made for her by Lea-Ann Belter. Photos by Clark + Walker (their wedding was also featured on Style Me Pretty).

Kristin and Michael were married in 2011 at the Glen Sanders Mansion and she wore the Mathias Lea-Ann Belter gown. I LOVE the detail on the back of this dress! Photos by Tracey Buyce.

Wow–how GORGEOUS are these brides in their gowns?! Well, if you like what you see and you're in the Capital Region, then you're in luck! Something Bleu Bridal in Saratoga Springs is a Lea-Ann Belter retailer! If you go, be sure to say hi to Denise, Allison, and the gang and tell them Katie O' sent you!

Venue Spotlight: Hall of Springs

Located in Saratoga Spa State Park, the Hall of Springs dates back to the 1930s and is on the National Register of Historic Places as a pristine example of Georgian Revival architecture. With its soaring ceilings, impressive stonework, and breathtaking views, the Hall of Springs is a classic venue that never goes out of style. Check out some past Katie O' / Hall of Springs weddings below!

Love, love, love this image from Marika and Paul's wedding by Clark + Walker Studio! Magical.

Natalia and Carlos had an amazing day…check out how they designed the space at the HOS (what we industry folks call it)! Kudos to my friends at Elario Photography for these killer photos.

Aimee and Jordan also had a fabulous event…I love these exterior shots of them from Bailly Photo. So many special spots for photos at the Hall of Springs!

Wedding Wednesday: Lydia and Jaan in Lenox, MA!

Happy Wedding Wednesday! It's been a hot minute since I shared a wedding with you all on an actual Wednesday! It's busy season here at Katie O' Weddings and Events, but we're really getting into the swing of things and I couldn't be happier about it!

Today I'm featuring an awesome couple who were married in 2012, Lydia and Jaan, over in Lenox, Massachusetts. Lydia and Jaan's wedding is a perfect example of why you should seriously consider hiring a wedding planner. The night before their wedding we had a change of venue! OMG. It was crazy and stressful (some might say crazy stressful), but the Katie O' Wedding and Events team was there to make sure it all ran smoothly, even if it wasn't according to plan! Check out their day below!

I love this image, starting off the day with Lydia and her girls…Eric Limon Photography did an AMAZING job!

And ready to go in her dress…

Gorgeous! I LOVED Lydia's gown.

Such a fun crew!

Time to get married…Lydia walked down the aisle with her Mom and Dad.

And they're married! Yay!

Such amazing details (And, hey, there's me in the mix, too)! Lydia and Jaan had a natural / organic feel to their decor with lots of burlap and jute. They made it visually interesting by using a myriad of flowers–colors, sizes, etc. and was tied together with hints of silver and mercury glass. Designer Ariella Chezar did a fantastic job!

Lydia and Jaan's original wedding venue didn't work out, but they ended up at the Lenox Public Library…not too shabby!

Even though the wedding day did not go as we originally planned (having spent 18 months providing full service to this client)…in the end it was absolutely perfect.

Thoughts from Lydia on her day and the KOWE team:

Katie O’ was a pleasure to work with from the very beginning, but her professionalism and skillfulness really shone when we had a last minute catastrophe. I believe we gave Katie O’ and her team one of the greatest challenges they’ll ever face! After a year of careful planning, our venue informed us on Friday afternoon that we would not be able to hold our wedding there on Saturday. The entire weekend was supposed to take place at a beautiful estate, and the last minute cancellation meant everything had to change. Katie and her team got to work immediately on finding us new locations, all the while remaining calm, warm, and reassuring. Because we had Katie working on our behalf, we were able to relax and be with our guests. It wasn’t until 10:00pm on Friday evening that they were able to find us a place to hold the wedding, as most venues were already booked, but it was perfect. Not only were they able to find us locations for the wedding, reception and other events of the weekend, they were able to communicate expertly with all of our vendors, so that our wedding weekend actually went very smoothly. We were so impressed, and are forever grateful to Katie and her team for all they did to get us married despite the last-minute setbacks. It couldn’t have been more beautiful.

Etsy Wedding Finds!

Hey, gang! Happy Monday to you! How was your weekend? We had a beautiful wedding and another happy KOWE couple! I'm here to share some great wedding finds from the creative minds over at Etsy! What's Etsy, you say? Well, it's an online marketplace for (mostly) handmade items…kind of like eBay for handmade! Let's see what I found!

I thought this paper flower garland from Lille Syster was super cool and nothing like anything I've seen!

These paper cake toppers from the shop ReadyGo are so fun! They even can make a paper cut out of your dog! Love it.

I LOVE this print from CAPow--I'm featuring New York, but there are lots of states to choose from (and this shop is local to Troy–just like Katie O' Weddings and Events)! What a great engagement or wedding gift!

Lastly, how awesome is this card holder from Mulberry Lane Folk Art?! You can custom order it in colors to match your house AND it can later be used as a birdhouse! So sweet! I love the birch tree on the side, too!
