Wedding Wednesday: Lauren and Brad!

Happy Wedding Wednesday, folks! This week we're throwing it back to December 2011 for a look at Lauren and Brad's Hall of Springs wedding in Saratoga Springs! Lauren and Brad actually live in Brooklyn (I have lots of long distance clients), so it was great to get to know them and help make their Saratoga wedding come to life!

It was a a beautiful evening for a wedding and watching these two lovely families come together…swoonworthy, for sure. The Hall of Springs looked AMAZING, to boot. It's a huge space, but the decor for Lauren and Brad's wedding was spot on…especially their ceremony. But I'll start at the beginning…

Lauren and Brad had one of the most stunning, beautiful and custom wedding invitations suites we have seen.  The super talented Rebecca Ashby of The Pink Orange created these masterpieces.  You will see how they set the tone for the entire celebration!

I love, love, love the custom laser cut design on the tree and the gold foil is so amazing! You will see more of this tree at their ceremony!

And here's the final product! I mean, c'mon–GORGEOUS! I loved Lauren's soft, side-swept, long hair and her makeup was so natural.

Clark + Walker caught a few shots before the ceremony of Lauren and Brad…I adore this series of black and white photos. So classic. In fact, the second one is my favorite image of the whole day!

Did I tell you the Hall of Springs looked amazing?! The crew at Experience and Creative Design did an incredible job. The space took on this ethereal feeling and it was truly magical!  Remember the amazing tree from their custom invite?

Lastly, one of my favorite moments of every wedding night! I try to capture this image on my iPhone, but sometimes I just let my colleagues do thier jobs…haha!

Trends: Food Trucks!

It's Monday and that means it's time for a peek into to what's trending in weddings! Today's Trends post spotlights food trucks! I've only had a few appear at KOWE weddings, but it's a feature I'm seeing more and more of and I think it's so fun and super tasty!

Most of the time we associate food trucks with outdoorsy or country weddings, but that's not always the case–they're popping up everywhere. I really love this trend because adds an element of whimsy and keeps the day light and fun. Plus, it's usually a surprise to someone…whether it's the bride or groom or the guests, people really love food trucks!

I love this image that I found from Snippet and Ink featuring a doughnut food truck! So fun, so laid back, and so delicious!

Mr. Ding-a-Ling made an appearance at Katie and Heidi's summer wedding at the Pruyn HouseHattie's was the caterer for their event, too. Talk about classic summer fare! When everyone needed a little break from dancing, the ice cream truck pulled up–so perfect (and sweet–hah–pun intended)! See more of their day in our gallery!

I LOVE this image from Katie and Greg's summer 2011 wedding by Mike Gallitelli of Metroland Photo–Greg is the General Manager at Franklin Plaza so he knows weddings! An ice cream truck from the Snowman, the Lansingburgh institution, was on scene for a sweltering July night and was a huge hit with guests!

Lastly, looking for a local food truck for your event? Our friends at the Wandering Dago are available and so delicious! Read more about them in this great post from All Over Albany

I'm seriously hungry now! Would you consider having a food truck at your wedding or event? Let me know in the comments!

Wedding Wednesday–Melissa & Matt!

It's Wednesday and that means I get to share another wonderful wedding on the blog! I'm really getting into this guys–with each post I write I find myself smiling thinking back about the wedding day, the details, the hiccups (there are always a few, but it's my job to make sure my clients never know), and the special moments that make me LOVE what I do.

On to Melissa and Matt! When I first met Melissa and Matt we really hit it off and I genuinely enjoyed working with them and getting to know them as a couple leading up to their big day.

Flashback to 07.14.12…it was a scorcher! We started the day at Melissa's parents lovely home and I was greeted with lots of smiling and familiar faces! Here's Melissa and her girls being made fabulous by none other than Alayne Curtiss and her crew! Melissamatt 0051 Edit

After Melissa was glammed up and about to get into her gown, JP of Elario Photography snapped this image of us–needless to say, I love it! Melissa had a “custom” Katie O' t-shirt made with all of her “A Team” vendors listed on the back!  Melissa is SO FUN (and sweet, kind, funny, etc.)!  And see that little green (of course!) fan hanging from my handy apron?  Melissa was very worried about the heat and sweating on the wedding day…so I made certain I had a hand held fan on site to help ease her mind!  It definitely came in handy a lot on this July day.  Anything to keep our “Katie O' brides” sparkling….

I'm smitten with these details from Melissa and Matt's wedding. How adorable is the “timeline” of their relationship?!

Trends: "Mismatched" Bouquets

Happy Monday, friends! Hope everyone had a fabulous (and safe) St. Paddy's Day weekend! This Irish lass spent some time with family and friends over in Boston (one of the best places to be on St. Patrick's Day!), but now I'm back with an all new Trends blog for you!

This week's Trends blog is highlighting “mismatched” bouquets for the 'maids. I'm putting mismatched in quotes because while these bouquets coordinate, they're not exact replicas of the bride's bouquet, nor do they all look the same. It's a great look that I'm starting to see more of (and I LOVE it). I think it also brings some visual interest to the photos and really makes the bridesmaids standout.

A few of my brides decided to go this route last year. Laura (aka little red) asked Kris Ann from Fleurtacious Designs to mix it up with these vibrant colors for her wedding day. How awesome is this image from Elario Photography?! See how the flowers just POP against their dresses? Swoon-worthy, for sure.

Laura and Kris Ann carried this idea even further to the tablescapes at the reception–so vibrant and fun! It was seriously stunning in person!

In July, David Michael Schmidt of Renaissance Floral Design also embraced the “mismatched” trend for Melissa and Matt's Saratoga Wedding (also by Elario Photography). Softer color pallette, but same effect–so great.

As you know by now, I love this trend and I hope to see more of it in the future. Would you consider “mismatched” bouquets? Let me know in the comments!
