Little White Workshop

When creative minds collide with a touch of sparkle…a dream team comes together. Angela’s Bridal and team KOWE wanted to create something that was useful, creative, intimate and helpful for local couples planning their wedding celebration.  So we put our thinking caps on and created something extraordinary. The “Little White Workshop,” is a series of interactive wedding workshops to help educate, inspire and motivate couples to dream big before saying “I do”.

If you have not yet been into Angela’s Bridal you are missing out!  This gem of a bridal salon was historically once a bank, nestled in downtown Albany, on what has become known as “wedding row”. Located near many hotels, wedding venues and the gorgeous Capitol building, Angela’s has become the premiere location for that moment we all dream of, and saying “yes to the dress”.  With each gown and designer hand selected, and a staff that is educated and full of sparkle, it truly is a special experience like no other!

We wanted to kick off our Little White Workshop Series with the best tips, tricks and insider knowledge to help make your wedding planning & day run smoothly.  To make this happen, we teamed up with photographer and dear friend JP Elario.  JP has over 25 years of experience and has been involved in the wedding industry for almost 20 years. He has established himself, his photography, and his business as one of the best in the Capital District. His style, personality and approach to photography is organic and fun. With his easy going personality, attention to detail, and an eye for capturing the best moments you will feel at ease having him on your team.

With a room full of eager brides (and grooms), JP and I set out on a mission to educate them on how to get through the “I do” process with a little more fun and less stress. From creating timelines, when to book your photographer, how far in advance to schedule engagement photos, book hair & makeup trials, the do’s and don’ts with social media and how to approach the “first look” option.  We covered a lot of ground and had so much fun sharing with our guests!

The first workshop was a BIG success! With time to mingle prior, champagne flowing, boomerang booth booming, music that made us want to dance, beautiful dresses on display to swoon over, lovely sweets & treats, time for Q&A during and after our presentations, plus giveaways and prizes! It was simply a beautiful night from start to finish.

If you missed the first workshop, don’t you worry we have more to come!  Save the Date:

NEW VENUE ALERT: Senate Garage

Last week we stopped in Kingston, NY (approx 1 hour south of Albany) for a site visit to the intriguing, Senate Garage ( We love visiting new venues, especially ones we have been ogling over on instagram for over a year!

We were welcomed by Judy (owner) and April (event manager) who had so much sparkle for their venue it was hard not to immediately fall in love with the space. The venue was originally a garage where chauffeur-driven cars were parked in the bustling town of Kingston. Fast forward almost 100 years and it is now transformed into the venue of your dreams!

If I had to explain the esthetic of the Senate Garage, I would describe it as “elevated industrial with touches of glam and charm.” Plenty of unique details throughout the space make it one of a kind!

Ceremony Inside and Outside Options:

Senate Garage offers more than 3 outside ceremony set up options. The Senate Garage opens to the Senate House State Park, a 17th century garden.

Outside Cocktail Hour Space:

(YES – those strung bistro lights are provided by the venue!)

The Reception Space:

The space offers flexibility with layout options. Whether you want round, banquet, farm or square tables – the space allows you to mix and play with space however you want!

The venue includes:

  • Capacity up to 275 seated guests (450 cocktail style) *but also can feel intimate if your group is smaller
  • Private bridal suite with restroom
  • Projector for video presentations
  • A/C and heat for year round events
  • Facility manager
  • Gorgeous built in bar
  • Outside ceremony and cocktail hour options
  • Room for a tent outside (if desired)

Ashley & Clare: Roxbury Barn

Ashley & Clare

Ashley & Clare met while studying theatre at NYU. She walked up to him at the end of class and said “you know, I think we’re supposed to be friends”. Over the next few months Ashley and Clare became best of friends. Eventually their friendship turned into love and four years later these two got married.

What Katie O’ says:  Ashley & Clare were so lovely right from the start. On our initial call I immediately felt, not only the love they shared for one another but also all of their “people.” They made a point to share just how much they wanted to “celebrate” all of their family & friends.  Getting to know Ashley and Clare during the planning process was a delight. Together they make a great team even with all the challenges they faced during the process. While planning their wedding, they both finished grad school. got new jobs and moved across the country! So it was great to be able to handle the “wedding business” for them while they were busy handling their new lives.

What Ashley says: Clare and I “interviewed” over 10 different wedding planners before we (very easily) chose to work with Katie and Casey to plan our big day! After only moments of chatting with them we knew we were in amazing hands and they were a great fit for us. Their warm energy, organization and attention to detail stole our type-a planning hearts! And, we were absolutely thrilled with them. We worked together for about fourteen months, before the wedding, during which Clare and I also moved across the country, finished grad school and started new jobs. As you can imagine, we were extremely overwhelmed and through it all Katie and Casey kept us feeling supported and on track for the wedding. In addition to their amazing skills for planning and organization — they made us feel loved and heard. Katie and Casey’s joy and appreciation for family, community and love is so apparent. And, watching them work with our other vendors only solidified that feeling! As mentioned, Clare and I are both a type-a planners and have a very strong attention to detail. We had big dreams for our big day and Katie and Casey made all of them come true. The day was absolutely seamless and even my friends and family commented on how impressed they were with Katie and her team. I truly can’t imagine a wedding planner!

Below are images by Lauren Scotti. To say this woman is incredibly talented would be an understatement. Not only are her images jaw dropping but she was amazing to work with on wedding day. It was VERY hard to slim her gallery down to 20 images but make sure to follow her on instagram (laurenscotti) and Facebook to watch what she is up to.

Ashley and Clare worked closely with Jenny C Design in creating their stationery suite. As you see later in this blog, the design was carried into the wedding in multiple ways.

Adorable first look in the pine grove.

Jenny’s invitation design was turned into Clare’s pocket square! HOW COOL!

Couples come from all over to have the ‘Pine Grove’ experience… can you blame them?

A little ‘behind the scenes’ wedding shot 😉

Guests were welcomed into the Pine Grove for a unique and beautiful ceremony

“I do!”

One of my favorite images. First kiss down the aisle as Mr. & Mrs.

Such a fun bunch!

First dance, surrounded by friends and family before heading inside the barn for toasts and dinner.

A little party never killed nobody!

A special sparkler exit for this sparkly duo.

Katie & Jeremy: M&D Farm
Katie & Jeremy

You will rarely find Katie and Jeremy having a lazy Sunday. These two are always on the move; they’re always hiking, biking or finishing an Iron Man. Being active together is their “bread and butter”. Jeremy actually proposed to Katie at the finish line of their Iron man last August! So it was no surprise that they started the morning of their wedding at a Wedding Day 5K with all of their friends and family.

SeCo Katie O’ says: Katie and Jeremy are such an awesome couple. They have such a passion for the activities that they do together which makes them that much stronger. Their wedding was full of character, personal touches and lots of love from friends and family. Their ceremony was one of my favorite parts. It was beautiful, perfectly personalized, and emotional  – not a dry eye in the house (or in the garden).

Bride, Katie says:  “I was a bride that read a lot of reviews while planning my wedding and I can say this: 1). All of the good feedback for Katie is true. 2). If it’s in your budget, get a coordinator (and trust me, it’s more than worth it). 3). If you’re going to get a coordinator, get the best! Thanks for everything. I’ll miss having an excuse to chat with you all! So much respect for this team. It’s so clear they do it out of love for the job.” (check out her full KOWE review: HERE)

After their morning workout team KOWE joined their wedding preparations at the Hilton Albany. Gorgeous day for a wedding!

Love this photo of Katie and her mom – such a sweet moment.

Bridesmaid reveals are always the best. The reactions are priceless.

M&D Farm is a venue straight out of a fairytale book.  The greenery, the twinkle lights, wild flowers everywhere.

Katie & Jeremy’s vows were so “them”. Tons of laughter and happy tears. Perfect way to start a marriage!

Every nook and cranny at M&D Farm is a photo op. Stunning!

Katie and Jeremy were very creative and thoughtful when it came to their ‘day of details’. Two vintage bike wheels and some fairy lights make for a memorable escort card display!

As you know these two to run, so they used old racing bibs as their table numbers! LOVE this idea.

Epic newlywed entrance!

Keep sparkling K&J – you are truly a perfect team. Never stop taking each other on adventures and enjoying the small moments!
