The Katie O team has worked on countless weddings, but one that stands out to us is the wedding of Moe and Mike! The couple got married on June 3rd, 2017 at the Integra Optics Airplane Hangar 202 in Albany, New York. Right from the start, Moe and Mike trusted the Katie O’ team 100%. As a result, we were able to create the most beautiful and detail-oriented wedding that was sparkly and totally them!
Moe is a full time Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) with a hobby of flying! Her dad also shared a passion for flying, and since the couple loved to travel, the location held extra importance to her and her now husband! From their cake to the escort cards, there were little nods to aviation throughout the day that made their wedding personal to them and their love of adventure!
We had so much fun on their big day that we wanted to catch up with Moe to relive some of the magic. Moe – thank you so much for taking the time to tell us about your wedding and how the Katie O’ team made it special!
Q: Tell us a little bit about your special day!
A: A “little” bit- I could go on and on. We got married at a hanger at Albany International on a beautiful June day.
Q: Why did you hire Katie O’Events?
A: I needed help with all the little details I didn’t know I needed help with.
Q: What was the best moment of your wedding day?
A: Our first look!
Q: What are two things you couldn’t live without (vendors, decor, it could be anything!)
Q: What are 1-2 things you COULD live without on your wedding day?
A: Good question! The wedding ceremony program!
Q: How did Katie O’ Events help you plan your special day?
A: She helped 100% with contracts. Arranging meetings with all kinds of vendors, suggesting vendors, what you need and don’t need for the wedding, dealing with a misguided stepmother in law with an ugly outfit on…. just to name a few. Oh and the point person at the venue site- who couldn’t find the contract- I didn’t have to stress much because Katie was the go-between.

The wedding planner and her team who have been there through it all. You have felt all of the feelings, not only for yourself, your team and your family…but for your couples. Your instinct is to fix it, move it and plan to make it better. You are faced with a level of uncertainty that drives you mad. You can’t guarantee anything right now and it is frustrating. But, we can guarantee love. We will see their love stories come to life on another day, possibly another year…but it will happen. You will make it happen. That’s what you do…you make dreams come true…no matter the obstacles that might be in your way.
International Women’s Day is a day that is special to me for SO many reasons. There are many uplifting & outstanding women doing things in every corner of society that it’s incredibly important we take the time to lift them up, today AND EVERY DAY! Growing up and becoming a female business owner, wife & mother; there have always been women that have made an impact on my life for the better. So what better way to celebrate this day than by sharing some of them with you?! (who run the world, GIRLS!) When the idea of IWD came about the first woman I thought of was the first woman I ever met. As a mom my mother has always been there for me and my siblings. She always taught me to do my best and follow my dreams. My mother cares for my children every day and is the absolute best role model and “GG” to Grace and Charlie. She is supportive, accommodating with my crazy schedule and loves her grandchildren more than anything. Nicki Pezzulo- Vice President of Philanthropy at the YMCA
If you were looking for a driven woman who not only excels in her lane but who strives to bring other women up with her then you have found her! Nicki is not only an amazing business woman but is a big reason for who I have become today with Katie O Events and is sure to celebrate my sparkle-versary every year with me and how far we have come. A boss momma of some fierce daughters of her own and owner of the Juice Factory in Troy, Genika is a lady of so many talents & passions and unlike so many others she finds a way to tap into those talents and incorporate it into her everyday life through her work! I don’t think I have seen her turn down a single project due to intimidation or for the fear of failing. Genika has now outgrown her first location, and opened up a larger homefront where she serves healthy juice, smoothies, juices, bowls, and lunch options. Her vision is absolute GOALS AND she is showing every other female out there that as a woman you can conquer anything you want and not feel like you’ve worked a day in your life which is something EVERYONE should strive for! Also, I am a HUGE fan of her “Pink Health Nut” smoothie- try it- trust me!
This female Vice President of Redburn Development is blazing her way in the “property-world” and is well known and respected for the differences she has been able to make in her line of work. We have been lucky enough to get to know her more as we work together to bring the historic Kenmore Ballroom back to life. Under her design direction, unparalleled passion and energy we have witnessed an amazing transformation and can not wait to share it with the world! Another strong #momboss who was back to work 3 days after having her third beautiful child. Her love for revitalizing downtowns is the same as her love for her family; she knows the potential and knows how she can motivate others to create a difference.
Megan is a true beauty inside and out and is one of those people you meet that you will immediately want to be friends with. Her humor, knowledge of random pop references and 90’s music is hard to match. Megan is a wife and mom of two (strong, smart and beautiful “little women”) offering a wide variety of hand-lettering services to clients around the country including place cards, seating charts, signs-you name it. She has been featured in Bridal magazines, People, US Weekly, Vogue and the list goes on-talk about a sparkly girl boss!
Nora is what we call an up-lifter to ALL women! Through her love and passion for fitness, she is able to help women by instilling a healthy lifestyle and building up confidence during some of life’s most challenging moments. I am so lucky to have met Nora, and to have benefitted from one of her programs while I was pregnant with my first child and signed up for her pregna-fit class. Since the first day, I knew she was special. She cares deeply for her clients and the community – something I’ve been very fortunate to witness through the years as I continue to watch her business grow. Like many others, Nora has inspired me to be the best version of myself, and I couldn’t feel more blessed to be a cheerleader, advisor and friend to her as she is to me!
The girl-bosses at Superfecta Management are new to our lives, but we are so glad to have met them and been able to work together! Starting with a passion for Social Media and helping local businesses thrive, this team of ladies have made a name for themselves in the industry and are taking social media, website management and business consulting to a whole new level! We have been excited to work with them on this International Women’s day collaboration and we have had a blast working together thus far!
Last week we were able to take a little planning break and visit this amazing new barn in Hudson, NY! We met with Blanche who was so knowledgeable, a team player and sparkly (our kind of gal). This venue has everything you need and more right onsite.

As you enter the main entrance of the barn, you are surrounded by beautiful wood work (original to the barn). There is a bridal suite, a groom’s suite as well as you guests’ restrooms.
The bridal suite is spacious with a lot of light! Perfect for all your getting ready needs.
The groom’s suite is very cool – we love it when the venue pays attention to the fellas too!
If you decide to get married onsite, it is an easy walk from the barn to the paddock where most their ceremonies happen. The barn provides you with ceremony chairs (always a plus!).
After ceremony, guests mix and mingle outside of the barn on the rolling hills of the farm. If weather is not so great, both your ceremony and cocktails could happen inside. Or you can get a ceremony/cocktail tent and still utilize the beautiful grounds.
Guests then find their seats inside of the main barn, seating up to 180 comfortably. Tables and chairs are provided by the venue (more savings on rentals!).
The barn includes these AMAZING stalls that can be transformed into lounges, photobooths, kid/babysitting areas and your bar! Creates cozy, unique spaces within your reception space!
There are no accommodations onsite BUT the barn is associated with a Farm House that can sleep 10 guests. The Farm House is only a 5 minute drive and super quaint!
