Couple of the Year: Mazzone Venue Tours

(Thanks Harris Co. for this awesome video!)

The first decision you make when wedding planning (after the decision to actually get married) is WHERE? The Mazzone Couple of the Year, Asi and Chenique went on their own “Tour de Mazzone” a couple of weeks ago to see all of their venues options They are not only researching venues for their wedding but also the ancillary events prior to the wedding; engagement party, bridal shower and rehearsal dinner.

We all piled into Mazzone’s shuttle and spent two days traveling up and down the Northway touring nine beautiful Mazzone venues. Check out Asi and Chenique’s thoughts on each venue below.

Cornerstone at the Plaza
A&C: “We loved the swanky feel of the space. The room was so bright and open and had beautiful views of Albany on all sides.”

677 Prime

A&C: “We loved the upscale feel of the space and awesome views looking right out onto downtown Albany. The lighting was amazing and really transformed the space to fit different styles.”

Hall of Springs

A&C: “Hall of Springs is absolutely breathtaking. The room just speaks for itself; the high ceilings, columns, and beautiful chandeliers are amazing!”

Hilton Garden Inn, Clifton Park

A&C: “We loved the convenience of the on site bar and grill and accommodations! We also liked that there were several different options to accommodate various party sizes!”

90 State

A&C: “We love the classic, urban feel of the space. The beautiful architectural detail and original bank vault gives the space such unique character.”

Aperitivo

A&C: “We loved the look of this restaurant and it’s convenient location. The exposed brick and unique light fixtures are beautiful!”

Glen Sanders Mansion

A&C: “We could feel the history within the mansion. We loved the look of this space and that the venue had multiple options for an on site ceremony, the large enclosed patio was perfect for all seasons, and the bar downstairs and overnight accommodations for guests are very convenient!”

Key Hall

A&C: “We loved the unique blend of a more modern and historical feel within this space. The space was so open!”

Saratoga National Golf Course

A&C: “We loved this venues amazing outdoor area! The large patio spaces overlooking the golf course are amazing!”

Canfield Casino Wedding: Andrea & Brad

On April 8th, 2017 we kicked off our wedding season with the sweetest couple. They were calm, laid-back, trusting, and so in love. We spent the day taking pictures in Congress Park, watching them say “I Do” in the Parlor, and danced the night away under the stunning new-and-improved stained glass ceiling of the Canfield Casino. We couldn’t be more happy for these two souls to have found each other.

Congratulations Andrea & Brad!

Katie O’ Says: Andrea and Brad were such a lovely couple.  They were so in love, excited to be getting married and sharing the day with their loved ones.  Andrea was such a calm, kind and sweet bride who was able to enjoy her day!  We loved working with this couple and their vendor team.  Wishing you both all the best as you start your life as “Mr & Mrs!”

Andrea & Brad say: We’re back from Italy and wanted to thank you both again! You were absolutely amazing and we can’t imagine our wedding without you there. Our friends and family were all raving about how great you were. Everyone, including us, was seriously impressed. I knew from our emails and phone calls that you’d both have everything under control and running smoothly,  but you were also just really fun to hang out with all day! We had a blast with you all and we keep saying that hiring #teamkowe was the best money we spent, hands down. We have such fond memories of the whole weekend and can’t thank you enough for making it perfect and bringing the sparkle! Thank you so much!

Started the morning at the Embassy Suites with Andrea & Brad. Love her grandmother’s fur stole- so classic and elegant.

The wonderful, Courtney with Make Me Fabulous getting our bride, MOH, and MOB ready for the big day!

I love candid getting ready pictures. How adorable are Brad & his brother?

First look at the spring in Congress Park – so sweet!

Stunning bouquet from Flowers by Suzanne!

The Parlor at the Canfield Casino is a BEAUTIFUL location to host a ceremony. The wood doors as a backdrop add the elegance of this historic venue.

Out for some “golden hour” photos – seriously sparkling!

Congratulations again, Andrea & Brad! We wish you a sparkling life together!

PS. Andrea and Brad then flew to Italy and spent 17 days in 7 cities eating 11 pizzas. That’s my kind of vacation 😉 picture credit: Newlyweds, Andrea & Brad

Thoughts on “my” 1st Mother’s Day

A few thoughts as I prepare to celebrate “my” 1st Mother’s Day.

I have been thinking a lot lately about the upcoming holiday.  I am so excited to celebrate and share my very 1st Mothers Day with my baby girl.  The past 9.5 months have been so amazing and quite honestly I don’t think I have words that can capture all the feelings I have felt.  It has given me time to reflect and think about so many “Mom’s” who have made an impact on my life. Please know that the original list was LONG…there are so many strong, inspiring, loving & caring women to highlight.  I needed to scale back for this post but know I hold all of you in my heart.

Thank you…

To my Grandmother who was part of my Mom’s “village” while raising me before a “village” was a thing.  It was just family and that’s what you did.  I am so lucky to have had her in my life for as long as I did.

To my best friend’s Mom, who during our senior year (prior to heading out to a party) reminded us “Girls just remember to be able to look at yourself in the mirror tomorrow  morning.” Thanks Mrs. C, these words have always stayed with me …way beyond high school.

To my own Godmother who I grew up watching or hearing about running marathons, who constantly pushes herself to be strong and go the extra mile.  You taught me at a young age that exercise is good for your not only your body but mind too!

To my BFF (of over 20 years!) who started her own family hundreds of miles away from anything familiar.  Your strength, determination and management of “2 under 2” is to be admired.  You pour so much love and dedication into your family and I miss you.

To my “forever friend” who I only just met 5 short years ago.  Your guidance, constant support, patience and fielding MANY “is this ok to do when pregnant” texts was a blessing.  Thank you for making me feel like everything is going to be ok…and doing it with “Style” & grace.

To my sister who I have been lucky enough to have by my side through everything. The day my nephew made you a Mom was one of the best days.  I have been able to watch and learn for almost 9 years now and I am so lucky to have you as such an incredible role model as I start this journey of motherhood.  You are amazing.

To my client turned friend who has shared with me so many valuable stories, parenting advice and new lyrics to “This Little Piggy.”  Trust me, Grace loves when this little piggy goes to “Starbucks & Sephora”, but giggles the most when the piggy goes “Weeeee Weeeee Weeeee all the way home to where her Mommy & Daddy love her the most.”

To Emily Ley, who I have only ever “met” via FaceTime (as evidenced below) while my #lifemaid was at a book signing in Atlanta.  Your words, your heart and the light you shine in your book “Grace not Perfection,” have helped me become a better Mom & business owner. You are an inspiration.

To my husbands Mom and my daughters namesake. Even though you were only able to physically be a mother to Nate until he was 12 years old, you are with him everyday as he parents Grace. Thank you for raising a man who knows the value of family, how to love & respect women and how to keep a faith that helps you through the hardest of times. “Even our bad days are good.”

To my Mom.  I know now Mommy. I get it. I feel the anxiety, the doubt, the uncertainty when it comes to raising my baby girl.  But I also aim to be strong, positive and confident when each day comes.  It is true what they say about not truly knowing how much you can love & appreciate your own Mom until you become one yourself.  We are so lucky to have you in our “village” and thank God everyday for your support.

So while this might be “my” 1st Mother’s Day… I will be celebrating so many more Mom’s who have helped me grow, learn and become a better mother each and every day as I set out to hopefully earn the title #momidol myself one day.

Happy Mother’s Day!
Hope it sparkles.

Meet the “Couple of the Year”!

Hey Sparklers!

As you might have heard, Mazzone Hospitality created a contest for one lucky couple to win a wedding with works. This couple won a engagement party, bridal shower, bachelorette party, wedding for 150 guests, and all of their vendors (including team KOWE!). They had over 80 couples submit heartfelt videos, shared amazing pictures, and spilled their love story on paper – so you know it wasn’t an easy job for Mazzone to pick a winner. After watching their video and meeting them in person, one couple stood out for their genuine, charismatic and gracious traits and knew they were “it”!

So without further ado we would like to introduce Chenique & Asi the “Capital Region’s Couple of the Year”!

(Seriously… can they get any cuter?!)

We got to catch up with them last week at Mazzone HQ where we learned more about their love story, their family and friends, and their priorities for their wedding weekend and overall planning process. We always start our relationship with our clients this way – we know that clients hire a planner/coordinator to keep them organized and to make sure everything runs smoothly; and of course we are very good at those things but our main goal as your planner and coordinator is to know the stories, the friendships and the traditions of your love that are the backbone of your wedding- that’s what is important to us.

Asi and Chenique are FUN and incredibly in love with each other. The next year or so we will be working closely with A&C and the Mazzone Hospitality team, planning the best wedding weekend for this lucky in love couple.

Make sure to follow @katieoevents and @capitalregioncoupleoftheyear on Instagram and Facebook, listen in to B95.5 for live interviews and planning updates, and always check back here to see what we have been up to!

xo,
Katie
