National Museum of Dance Wedding: Erin & Mike

Team KOWE spent a beautiful August day with Erin and Mike at the National Museum of Dance celebrating their love story. These two were constantly laughing and it was so much fun to share in planning and coordination for them.

Erin and Mike were guests / bridal attendants in a few Katie O’ weddings so they knew we could provide a stress-free day for them.  It is always a compliment to have clients come to us based on their experience at a previous KOWE wedding.

Katie O says…

“I loved our first consultation with Erin and Mike.  I had met Erin a few times before but this my first time meeting Mike.  He is a great guy, dedicated to his family and a small business owner too.  I was impressed as soon as I met him by his work ethic and love for his bride-to be.  I was so excited when they decided to book us and he was 100% confident that we would be able to make their wedding day stress free.  Having an amazing live band was HIGH on their priority list, unfortunately many of the best local bands were already booked on their date.  They put their trust in me to find them a band that would have the dance floor packed.  Based on my experience with The Party Factor, I knew this was the right fit.  Sight unseen Erin and Mike trusted my reccommendation and they were BEYOND happy with the result.  Check out the images below for their packed dance floor!”

Senior Coordinator, Casey says…

“Erin and Mike are so fun! They are full of energy and laughs. Working together with their vendors made the day perfect! We are so lucky to have been a part of their special day.”

#kowecouple Erin and Mike say...

“The most beneficial part of having the KOWE team there was by making the day go by so smoothly without having to worry. Casey and the other girls did an amazing job fielding phone calls from guests and caterers, keeping vendors on time, etc.”

Here are just some of our favorites from Kevin Demassio’s blog.

Trend Alert: Two-Piece Wedding Dress
We are very excited to kick off our “guest blogger” series today with one of our favorite local professionals and #girlboss, Randi Poillon of Styled by Randi.
Randi is the Capital Region’s most sought after personal stylist and we are thrilled to have her share her thoughts on the “two-piece” wedding dress trend that we are seeing a lot of lately.  For more information on Randi’s amazing services check her out on Instagram at @styledbyrandi.   Also click here for a great article highlighting her services from the Times Union.
Randi says:

I have been asked my opinion on the two-piece wedding dress a lot lately. Being a lover of all things fashion and new trends, I must admit I am a huge -fan! Okay I know what you’re thinking, a two-piece wedding dress?? Of course there are some options out there that I can’t stand behind, I don’t think anyone should be baring their midriff of their wedding day, but when done properly, the two-piece offers a whole new world of possibilities to the unconventional bride looking for a unique twist, and basically allows for a customizable dress at a standard retail price. The possibilities are endless with offerings in any skirt length and volume, and top options are just as vast.

The added bonus?? Post wedding, switch it up and pair the pieces with other items in your wardrobe and get more bang for your buck! Why not throw on the top with a pair of skinny jeans and pair of heels and hit the town with your new hubby, you just can’t beat it!! I know the two piece dress won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but for all of you non traditional brides I urge you to give it some consideration. I think it’s a trend we will be seeing a lot more of in the near future.

Check out some photos of two piece dresses we love including this stunner by Monique Lhuillier our May #kowebride wore perfectly….

All Things New & Sparkly at KOWE

They say the waiting is the hardest part…well, Tom Petty definitely said this, and I have to agree.  Anyone that knows me knows that I hate waiting. I hate when people are late and I really hate waiting when I am not in control. Don’t even get me started on late wedding guests…

Nothing (aside from a nearly two weeks overdue baby) makes me more anxious than having everything timed perfectly–bridal party lined up, groom and Officiant on deck and ready, musicians about to be cued 3 minutes before the time listed on the invitation and then we WAIT. Not all the guests have arrived and we WAIT.

A week or so ago (it seems like months ago now) we were waiting for one of the best and most beautiful blessings life can bring you–a baby. It kind of felt like waiting to walk down the aisle to meet your soulmate at the end and start your new life as a married couple. You want to run down that aisle into their arms and get your happily ever after started!

From the start of my pregnancy many folks heard me say, “You can’t plan the best things in life” which might sound funny coming from a planner. I mean, planning is my livelihood–I make a bespoke plan for an event and execute it.

But, you know what? Life is messy and unpredictable. You can have the very best plan and things can still go wrong. But how you handle the unexpected is what makes life and the experience of living that much sweeter. KOWE is best under pressure…we roll with whatever punches or issues might arise on a wedding day and usually it is the unplanned ones that make the day more amazing. Torrential rain? Cancelled venue last minute? We’ve handled it all.

I find it kind of ironic, honestly. We signed on to redesign our website on December 10, 2015 and we found out I was pregnant a month before. For the past 9 months we have been growing a baby, redesigning the website, and updating our overall business strategy. I didn’t know exactly when the site would be complete and knew approximately when the baby was due–but they’re here and ready to be revealed!

image1-7In my mind, I never thought our baby would be nearly two weeks overdue (she’s got a mind of her own already!). At the exact time our brand new website is 99% complete (all that is missing is this blog post to kick off the launch) she decided to be late and make us WAIT. But that’s life, right?

As a small business owner, my personal and professional life will always intersect and I wouldn’t want it any other way. This next phase of life will include more weddings, parties, first words, sleepless nights, lots of diaper changes, cuddles, hugs from happy clients, meaningful relationships, highs, lows, successes, and failures.

We are ready to let life happen and figure it out one day at a time. We are in the business of love, celebration, family, and sharing joyful occasions with others. As such, I am thrilled to share with you our brand new website and introduce you to our newest member of #teamKOWE.—Mary-Jo Grace Maloney born July 21, 2016 at 1:36PM–8lbs, 15oz, 22″ long–all sparkle.
