Over the past five or so years engagement shoots (or e-shoots, as we say in the business) have become increasingly popular. When a couple asks me if I think an e-shoot is a good idea, more often than not, I say yes! Engagement shoots offer a chance for the soon-to-be-married couple to get comfortable with the camera and with their photographer. Plus, you end up with some amazing images that are more playful and relaxed…and less formal then your wedding photos.
Lots of couples use the images from their engagement shoots to create a photo album guest book for their wedding, too. It's a great way to showcase your enagement photos and a lovely memento from your wedding! Win-win! I know some brides have also done their makeup trial before their e-shoot. What better way to try out your wedding day look?
I've gathered a few of my favorite and fun e-shoot images from the Capital Region and around the web! Hope you like them!
First up, some fall fun from local photographer, Scott Kretschmann! I love, love, love this e-shoot with Tracey and Brian! They started off in downtown Albany, but then made their way out to Voorheesville and Indian Ladder Farms–where Brian proposed! Adorable! And you know my thing for forehead kisses!
Next, an awesome image from Bailly Photography for DC couple, Kristen and Jim! The location(s) for your e-shoot can be so personal and unique. A well-known location also lends a sense of place and rootedness to your image. I mean, we all know where these two are in the U.S.A., right?
Ahh, the BEACH! Inherently romantic and there's a pretty good chance you're going to end up with some top-notch images. I really like this North Shore (yeah, I'm a Boston girl at heart) e-shoot from Servidone Studios. I especially love the reflection in the small pool of sea water–swoon!
This Schenectady e-shoot captured by the fabulous Nikki Rossi is super fun! How creative is this photo of Kate and Tyler in front of the Proctor's marquis?! So awesome and perfect for their save-the-dates!
Last, but not least, two familiar faces around these parts posing for their engagement photos in Las Vegas back in 2009. Yup, that'd be Kris Ann Elario and JP Elario of Fleurtacious Designs and Elario Photography, respectively! I think this photo is perfect for two people in love AND in the wedding business! Love the forehead kiss, KA! So sweet.
Are you considering having engagement photos done? Will you take a traditional route or incorporate some fun into your shoot? Let me know in the comments!
